How does the area drain today?
Artificial turf can pass water, but it does not repair a poorly graded subgrade or provide a discharge path by itself.
How it affects price
Does this change the quote?
Potentially direct. Standard permeable-base work may be included, while drains, regrading, stabilization, or correction of standing water usually requires additional site-specific work.
How to evaluate it
- The carpet, backing, infill, base, subgrade, and discharge route function as one system.
- Existing puddles should be diagnosed before the surface is covered.
- Product drainage claims do not describe the entire installed system.
Ask the salesperson
- Where will water go after it passes through the turf?
- Does the price include correcting the current drainage problem?
- Which drainage work would require a separate quote?
